Lots of people think that the stress of the Holidays comes from the Christmas rush, or that people stress out from the pressure of the season, like decoration, the Christmas turkey or ham, or picking out the perfect present to make family members happy. For some of us we aren’t so lucky as for our main source of stress to be what goes under the lighted christmas tree, but a lot of other considerations. But for us doctors, Christmas stress never ends when the clock strikes twelve, and the 26th of December was marked on the calendar. For doctors the holidays last 365 days a year, or really the holiday stress follows us everywhere.

The holidays are about hope and giving life. Physicians like myself make life changing decisions every day, not just for ourselves, but for our patents as well. Physicians are supposed to give hope to their patients that they can recover. Doctors do everything in their power to make clients feel better, when when recovery is near impossible, we just do our best to help them accept their situation and make them make the best out of the time they have left.

That’s why all the days of the year are like Christmas, and it really does make for a lot of stress on ones person, it’s a major thing when you’re being part of someone’s last breath. There are times, you can’t hold long by being strong in front of a dying patient, and what you can do is just to empathize, or better yet, get out of the room and keep the sorrow for yourself. That is very nerve-racking in my part. Indeed, Christmas stress is different when you are in a medical profession, because you cannot get away from it, instead you need to learn to accept it as a normal part of your life. So this year when you’re sitting around the lighted christmas garland just relax and think it could be worse.

Go on,admit it! On occasions you can be overrun by seemingly endless amounts of paperwork and wonder if you will ever be able to sort out it all. Emails or Ezines that you want to keep, ideas[/spib] you found needed to finalize the project that was due last week! Phew! It is all exhausting.

Being a list person is a great help. If you are busy juggling a 9 to 5 work life, family time, a home-based business and taking care of your home, as well as having some hobbies — well it’s time to begin thinking about becoming a list enthusiast.

It’s time to simplify your life! For all of the super-busy people in this world, there are a number of very clever and yet easy a time limit for each telephone call and make sure you tell your caller. That way you save yourself lots of stress from trying to end the telephone call. This will also help your caller in condensing the information they would like you to hear. This one sounds meticulous but is a great saver.

3) Use Waiting Time: The next time you visit your dentist, or while waiting for your dinner to cook, use the time to catch up on reading or planning. When that is done utilize, the time to sort, tidy or just think.

4) Give Thanks: The next time someone helps you out with something, be sure to offer appreciation. This can be to a subordinate, co-worker or to a member of the family for any effort you have noticed. They will be happy to help you again, next time you need them.

5) Do it Now! Do not allow for the luxury of procrastination. If you do, this will only stress you out when you think about that hateful “to do” item on your list. You will end up blowing your “to do” list right out of proportion and it will become almost impossible to accomplish. Start by tackling the largest or most disliked job first, dividing it up into manageable tasks. At this stage, the other jobs will be a breeze!

6) Administrate Chores: Delegate those tasks that you have no time for or team up with someone who can help you the most.

7) Make a Group Effort: Save time and footwork by collecting everything to bring with you to complete errands or to distribute in each room of the house instead of making too many trips. Make a fast list while planning out your route and be sure to plan each stop along the way so you do not have to backtrack and lose time.

8) Schedule in Some Me Time! Take the time just for YOU. Allot some time in your week and even make an appointment for yourself and keep it, even if it’s only a leisurely 20 minute bubble bath or a 30 minute stroll in the fresh spring air!

9) Make More Space: Go through your complete filing system and then weed out any old unneeded files to free up space in your filing system.

10) Deal with it Only Once: Handle each letter and each piece of paper only once. Read it and file it, redirect it to somewhere else, schedule it in your day planner or toss it. Do not add it to a never-ending pile on your desk in the hope that you will get to it eventually. You WILL NOT!

11) Be your own Post-Master: Use those handy sticky notes to write errands requiring to be done. Stick them to your front door or your fridge, to remind you as you are headed out. These work great!

12) Be your own Systems Engineer: You simply find there is too much time wasted every day on searching for things. Find a new system that works for you and your lifestyle and then apply it to absolutely everything! Use it like clockwork and you will find new time slots you never thought existed!

Celebrating birthdays are one of the great things in life do you agree? Although there are many occasions such as anniversaries, holidays, fiestas and graduations, Only once in each year we can celebrate a very special day, the day we were born.
In my entire life I only celebrated a birthday party once, I think I was at the age of one at that time which I can still remember a picture of me ruining the cake by smashing it with my bare hands and eating it. For us celebrating birthday parties is an expense most specially when you are just living in a middle class family, we see it as very unessential.
Although we still celebrate our birthdays, a great meal, a greeting and a nice big hug from each member in our family is enough to make us feel special during those days, We don’t usually spoil ourselves with gifts and luxuries because we believe love is the most valuable thing that money can’t buy, so it is really rare for us to be celebrating parties.
The good thing about not celebrating birthdays is that we don’t have anything to worry about entertaining visitors, most specially cleaning up and washing dishes which I really really hate the most but one disadvantage though is you can’t have visitors.
It’s not that I hate celebrating my birthday the fact is just I have nothing to share but say thank you when someone greets me. For me saying thanks would be enough I guess but one thing I like most when birthdays are coming is getting invited to a party simply because it would be another sumptuous meal for free, do you agree? Well it’s easy getting an invitation but the difficult part is getting there.
I was once invited to a party and it was during summer, as expected it was hot during that season, so I was donning my Sunglasses all the time. It was just unfortunate that on the same day I had my car repaired and my friend lived in a big village so I have to walk a hundred meters or so just to get there. The sun was up and shining bright during those times when I finally got to my friends house I was swetting bucket. Well it was a good thing I was greeted with a cold drink and a good ventilation whew!. Aside from that a great meal and a delicious dessert.
Just as I expected it was like fiesta, the food was great. Most of my favorites were served and specially the hot egg soup that totally fogged up my Reading Glasses which gave me a good reason for me to put it aside.
After giving the gift and having a great meal I have to walk another hundred meters to get out of the village. Alhtough the day was almost perfect, rather than going home directly I had to go to my Optometrist to have the frame of my Plastic Reading Glasses replaced because one of the hinges broke off after I sat on it. Well it just show everything is just not perfect even good times comes with bad luck sometimes.

Meditation is a well accepted technique to encourage and promote relaxation. The more relaxed you are as you prepare for bed the better your chances of falling into a deep, restful sleep cycle.

It is essential that you learn to put your stress, tensions, and worries to the side before you fall asleep. Meditation can assist you attain this relaxed state and focus on peace and harmony.

There are many different types of meditations available for you to use, each with many adaptations and versions. To get you started, here is a technique that is easy to do and very effective at promoting relaxation:
Find a focus point for your meditation. This may be a candle, a mantra, a stone, or something as simple as the sound of your own breathing. A mantra is a phrase, usually a Hindu phrase, which you repeat over and over in your mind to establish harmony and to focus on your meditation. No matter what you are using for your focus point the aim is to continuously and firmly bring your mind back to what you are focusing on. All other thoughts and distractions that drift through your mind must be pushed out. If you are beginning to include meditation in your bedtime routine you should remember that this type of meditation requires a great deal of discipline. Your mind will easily be distracted and you will lose focus. As you continue to practice your meditation nightly you will find that the process becomes easier and easier. You may find that meditating 10 to 15 minutes before bed will help to fall asleep naturally.

Here is another simple technique for meditation:
• Find a quiet room.
• Sit in a comfortable position on the floor (use a cushion if needed).
• Sit with your hands resting lightly in your lap.
• Close your eyes and relax.
• Take deep breaths in and out through your nose.
• Try to focus on your breathing. Count each breath as you exhale. Count to ten. Repeat several times until relaxation sets in.
• Clear your mind of everything and think only of counting each breath as you exhale.
• Acknowledge any other thoughts that enter your mind, and then gently let them go and concentrate once again on your breathing.
At the end of the meditation stretch gently and become aware of your body before standing up.

Another form of meditation is guided imagery. Guided imagery is a mix of relaxation, meditation, and hypnosis. Using this technique you will follow a guided meditation to visualize a state of relaxation.
It is best practiced in a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed. You will need a tape or CD player. The lighting in the room should be soft and dim. Normally the visualization will begin with some simple relaxation exercises that include deep breathing. When your body and mind are relaxed your imagination will come into play. Some common imagery include being in the mountains, walking along a beach, or walking through the forest. The guided imagery uses your imagination to bring about peacefulness and relaxation. You will be guided through the meditation from start to finish, at which time you should feel calm and serene.
There are many imagery tapes on the market for you to pick from.
The above techniques for meditation will help your mind and body to relax. Your aim is to be as rested as possible as you prepare for sleep. There are many other methods of meditation available. You may have to research and experiment and find what works best for you.

These techniques are also great if you are having to cope with stress in your life such as preparing to act as master of ceremonies at a friend’s wedding reception. The thought of speaking in public makes most people anxious.

Most of Us think people with eyeglasses are nerds and geeks sometimes we perceive them as stupid, ineffectual or unattractive person. Those who have such an uninteresting personality with a non-social hobby or pursuit . We sometimes find them so peculiar. These kind of people most of us would like to laugh at and get bullied all the time at school but who said you would never fall in love in an overly intellectual person with such a pretty face? Let’s start with the misconception.

The word Geek is defined as a person regarded as irritating, foolish, inept, and clumsy person or a person who is single-minded. While the word Nerd means an insignificant student who is ridiculed as being affected or boringly studious. All in all a person with Large Reading Glasses are considered as a “comically unpleasant creature”.

On the other hand most of us think people like them are good, shy and smart that’s why most people would like to stereotype the same persona. Wearing eyeglasses creates a “Halo Effect” in a person adding a mature and intelligent personality which makes them look good to the point that most of us even wear just the Designer Frames .

Just for fashion people wear them even without the need of any vision correction.
We can’t blame them even eyeglasses became a fashion statement. That is why you’ll find luxurious Designer Reading Glasses out in the market today, both for men and women to satisfy and complete the Halo Effect.

I use to be one of the bullies at school and we make fun of the kids with “Four eyes” but in the end I end up wearing them. Not for fashion but to protect my eyes from too much use of the computer.

I’ve learned my lessons anyway not to tease girls you hate cause you may never know you’ll fall for them. Just like they said “The more you Hate the more you love.” How Ironic…
One reminder though don’t look deep into their eyes cause you’ll definitely fall in love. Your heart will be struck by lightning and you’ll end up sleeping with them.

There are things in life that are not easy to do, but getting healthy isn’t one of them! Here are 7 simple habits to improve health that you can adopt today!

1. Eat your breakfast. Yup! mom was right to yell at you for skipping! Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Still, many of us skip it thinking that it will help us lose pounds. When you skip breakfast your blood sugar levels, as well as other nutrient levels drop, depriving you of the required nutrition and energy for the rest of the day. Breakfast eaters have a more positive attitude toward school and work, and they perform better.

2. Bite into something good. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Fruits are cool and juicy, so they get you the water you need to stay hydrated and they also provide the vitamins and nutrients that fat-free snack foods don’t. They’re good and they taste sweet - and some contain antioxidants that help prevent aging. Healthy habits include eating a lot of fruits.

3. Eat regular meals. Skipping meals can lead to out-of-control hunger, often resulting in overeating. When you’re very hungry, it’s also tempting to forget about good nutrition. Snacking between meals can help curb hunger, but don’t eat so much that your snack becomes an entire meal. If it’s possible, try to work 5 small meals into your day.

4. Spin smoking. Now, studies show that when you quit smoking, you can restore your heart function back to that of a non-smoker within a few years. You’ll breathe easier, cut down your chances for heart disease, cancer, and more. But you knew that, right? Also, if you’re not a smoker, stay away from those who do. Secondhand smoke is a major killer - don’t be afraid to tell people gently that you’d prefer it if they didn’t smoke around you.

5. Exercise Daily! You don’t have to be a professional athlete - just make time for 15-20 minutes of exercise daily. Take a walk, dance crazily to music, go for a jog, play volleyball on the beach, whatever it takes to get your heart pumping for a little while.

6. Get your sleep. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night can extend your life. Your body has time to recharge every night so it’s fresh and ready to face the onslaught of the next day.

7. Invest in some “Me” time. Take some time out of your “busy” schedule. First, eliminate all forms of intrusion. Then close your eyes, breathe deeply and let your thoughts float downstream like a log carried by the river. You can practice meditation or relax in a hot bath with aromatherapy. When a thought comes up, just watch it float away.

Planning is key to minimizing stress whether you are planning a wedding or simply one of the people giving a speech or toast.

We are not always able to escape our environment when we feel stressed. For some, taking a simple walk to clear the head is something that has to be put off. What we all can do, though, is take a few moments to sit in our chair and use imagery to ease our stress.

Used with deep breathing, imagery can be a powerful anti-stress tool.

Imagery makes good use of our imagination. From the imagination we can draw upon any number of experiences. We can recall a time and a place where we were at peace, where our surroundings were blissful and beautiful to the eye. We can recreate from memory to bring ourselves out of a stressful situation and into an intensely relaxing situation.

When you visualize a lovely and relaxing scene in your mind, this reduces stress. Your body quickly responds by relaxing. On the other hand, if you create an image in your mind of an unpleasant and stressful situation, your stress levels will quickly increase.

Many people enjoy listening to a quiet CD of a favorite nature retreat or similar when doing this imagery

Begin by relaxing in a comfortable chair and deep breathing. Take deep, cleansing breaths and then release them slowly. Start by imagining a scene, place or event that you recall as being safe, peaceful, restful, beautiful and happy. Bring all your senses into this imagery by recalling sounds of cool, running water, the song of birds, the smell of fresh cut grass, the heat of the sun, etc. Imagine that you are at a place free from stress and pressure.

Focus on developing your five senses. Savor the images of serenity. Smell the freshness of nature. Feel the warmth and comfort of the sun and the air. Each image will be different to each person. Really focus on what you can see, taste, touch, smell and feel.

Now imagine that all of your stress, all of your worries and all of your concerns are being zapped from your body. Feel each stress point release as if into thin air. As you feel the stress drain from your body return back to your picture of imagery. Relax there and deep breathe.

Imagery substitutes your actual experience with something much more ideal. It allows you a renewed sense of self-confidence to take on the stress of your life. During imagery, your body is relaxed and recharged. Your stress levels lessen and adrenaline disperses. It gives your mind and body a break over the stress having control and you have complete mastery over the mind and body for that time. Imagery is a great life balancer!

Habits, oh those nasty habits. Habits are developed from training, influences, observation, and practice. We develop many habits throughout our life. Some are good and others are bad. Good habits we can keep, but if you want to improve your life the bad habits have to take a hike. Getting rid of bad habits however is not easy, especially if an addiction is involved. For this reason, we can take a few steps to learning how you can change your habits.

Making excuses:
People wander through life making excuses. Anytime a person sees something complicated, they will often make excuses why they cannot deal with the problem. “This is just the way I am.” This is a common problem in the world, which we’ve all heard billions of times. If you are out to improve your life however, you need to say, “This is something that hinders me from achievement and I have the power to change it”.

The first key to success is stop making excuses. Learn how to tell the truth. The truth is the only answer that leads you to improve your personal life. Once you learn to tell the truth, you will need to commit yourself to learning new behaviors and habits.

You can commit by picking a new habit. Today I plan be organized around the home. Stop saying I’m naturally untidy. Take action today
home organization declutter your home Get yourself organized with planners, checklists and templates

Today I am going to stop judging others and myself. This is a common mistake people make in the world. They spend time judging others and themselves. This gets them nowhere but in a world of chaos. You make your bed, you must learn to sleep in it, which is why you should change your ways. Judging is only for our Master in the sky.

Do you think negative? I can’t change this. My life is full of nonsense, I can’t swing it anymore. Why me? Who put a tag on my head, saying persecute me. If you spend your life thinking negative and saying negative connotations, try changing your ways today. For instance, say, I can change something and I am going to. Instead of saying life is full of nonsense, accept it as truth yet move ahead to make your life better. Why me is a common question, which no one knows why, yet we have to accept it, make better decisions and move ahead. If you feel persecuted, ask you what you are doing that makes you feel this way. Do you have friends or family members weighing you down? If so, then kick their butt down the road and make new friends. No one in life is worth you suffering ongoing. You have the power to make changes, yet you do not have the power to change other people.

When you begin to make changes to improve your life, start small. Instead of jumping the gun, take baby steps to success. Too many times people try to change overnight. This only leads to frustration.
