The following article is from a series of small business related articles and videos about raising business capital using government grants …
Did you know that government grant money is used in public schools to help improve the quality of meals and to allow some school children to eat for free, who may otherwise go hungry? There is also free grant money for those students who need help with college tuition and other education-related expenses. Business owners can take advantage of federal grant funds as well. But it is not always as simple as raising your hand and asking for the cash.
If federal grant money was easy to obtain, then everyone would have pockets filled with cash to chase whatever they fancied. There is a lot of red tape and a lot of paperwork that has to be filed in order to secure a grant. Grant proposals have to be prepared. Business models have to be shown and even students have to fill out paperwork, such as the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Even the free lunch programs at public schools and daycare facilities are subject to a thorough grant proposal process. The body that is requesting the grant must show how they intend to utilize the money. All it takes is one simple error on the paperwork and the delay can cost you thousands in dollars and several months. But there are means to help simplify the process of acquiring free cash grants.
You can do one of two things. The first is to hire an individual to prepare your grant proposal on your behalf and help you fill out the required forms and paperwork. This is what many small business owners choose to do if they have no idea as to how to make a grant request. The second alternative is to become educated and learn the process of preparing a proper grant proposal. You will also need to learn how to fill out the appropriate paperwork required for the specific government grant money you are after.
